The wave drifters provide the wave conditions of hurricanes prior to landfall. The dataset includes observations from A-size Directional Wave Drifters (ADWSDs) and Directional Wave Spectra Barometer Drifters (DWSBDs). These drifters were deployed to provide sustained monitoring of wave and surface temperature conditions during the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season, and to target the wave fields of specific hurricanes. The drifters were deployed between May and November. These data are related to the 2023 and 2024 (upcoming) datasets. Wave observations were taken under Hurricane Idalia. This dataset provides the first-five directional coefficients from the wave drifters. The related sensor dataset provides bulk wave parameters, sea-level pressure (if available), and sea surface temperature.</description></descriptions><geoLocations><geoLocation><geoLocationPlace>North Atlantic Ocean</geoLocationPlace><geoLocationBox><westBoundLongitude>-100</westBoundLongitude><eastBoundLongitude>-40</eastBoundLongitude><southBoundLatitude>0</southBoundLatitude><northBoundLatitude>50</northBoundLatitude></geoLocationBox></geoLocation></geoLocations><fundingReferences><fundingReference><funderName>NOPP NHCI</funderName><awardNumber>N00014-21-1-2199</awardNumber></fundingReference><fundingReference><funderName>National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)</funderName><awardNumber>NA20OAR4600265</awardNumber><awardTitle>The Global Drifter Program</awardTitle></fundingReference><fundingReference><funderName>National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)</funderName><awardNumber>NA21OAR4590374</awardNumber><awardTitle>Weather Program Office</awardTitle></fundingReference></fundingReferences></resource>
